Open Space, formally Open Space Technology is a method for organizing meetings as described by Harrison Owen in Open Space Technology: A User's Guide.

Meetings held in Open Space have no pre-determined agenda. Participants create the agenda at the very beginning of the event and it evolves thoughout the event.

Open Space relies on the Four Principles:

  1. Whoever comes is the right people.
  2. Whatever happens in the only thing that could have.
  3. Whenever it starts is the right time.
  4. When it's over, it's over.

and the One Law

  • the Law of Two Feet - if at any moment you find yourself in a situation where you are not learning from nor contributing to, it is your responsibility to use your two feet to go somewhere where you can be more productive.
