The Logo
First and foremost is getting the logo replaced. The current text one is great, but it needs to be uploaded over top of Image:Wiki.png. Oh and an icon, yeah, that too.
However I am thinking that maybe the logo should be visual instead of a wordmark. Maybe commons:Image:Squash WIkicommons 3.png or commons:Image:Link.jpg could be re-captioned? Or maybe even the stereotypical Tree of Knowledge? All of those give an idea of togetherness which the text alone doesn't. And once the logo is decided upon a subtle visual theme can be concocted using colours derived from it, to further give a feeling of uniqueness.

- I agree about the Logo and am drawing out designs at the moment - though relatively unsuccessfully. I'd love nothing more than to get some help, even if just with ideas. Thanks for the ones you've just listed above. I've been playing with trying to diagrammatically show the idea of meta levels of collaboration - for instance,
- a few scientists working on a theory,
- within the context of the larger scale collaboration of their scientific community,
- with people collaborating on the understanding of scientific collaboration in contexts like Meta Collab,
- within the context of the larger scale collaboration of their scientific community,
- a few scientists working on a theory,
- and on it goes - with many more sub-collaborations in between... So yeah, i'm getting caught in an infinite regress :-7
- I really like Wikiepedia and its sister project's type of images, and i've been bouncing back and forth between a diagrammatic similar to the Wikimedia Commons and a more naturalistic one like the tree of life image. Then yes, a complementary visual theme is exactly what i'm thinking. - I think i've been thinking about it too much and have lost perspective! --Mark Elliott 11:06, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)
